Education & Qualifications
Professor Man qualified from Imperial College School of Medicine with a 1st Class Honours BSc and Distinction Honours in medical finals. He went on to train in respiratory and general internal medicine in London’s leading teaching hospitals including the Royal Brompton Hospital, Hammersmith Hospital, St. Mary's Hospital, King's College Hospital and Harefield Hospital.
Professor Man is on the specialist register, fully accredited for both Respiratory Medicine and General Internal Medicine and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians.
As well as being a clinician, Professor Man is also an internationally recognised researcher in chronic lung diseases. Professor Man was awarded a PhD in 2007, which was recognised by an award from the European Respiratory Society for "outstanding contribution to COPD research in Europe".
In 2008, he won under fierce competition a National Institute for Health Research Clinician Scientist Award, one of only five national awards for doctors who show exceptional potential for clinical research.
In 2013, Professor Man was awarded an inaugural National Institute for Health Research Clinical Trials Fellowship.
In 2017, Professor Man was honoured with the American Thoracic Society Career Achievement award in Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
